Chełm - wielokulturowe miasto południa
Chełm to miasto w województwie lubelskim, położone nad rzeką Uherką, czyli lewym dopływem Bugu.
Początki osadnictwa na terenie obecnego Chełma to epoka paleolityczna. Chełm jest także miastem królewskim ulokowanym w 1392 roku w niegdyś województwie ruskim. Prawo składu miejscowość otrzymała w 1541 roku.
Nazwa miasta wywodzi się najprawdopodobniej od starosłowiańskiego słowa "cholm", które oznacza wzgórze.
Warto podkreślić, iż Chełm to miasto bogate w kultury polską, żydowską i ruską.
W Chełmie jest pięć parków miejskich, jeden z nich to np. park leśny przy ulicy Hrubieszowskiej, w mieście jest także 13 pomników przyrody, są to np. modrzew europejski, jesion wyniosły, miłorząb dwuklapowy, wzgórze widokowe "Grodzisko", płat roślinności kserotermicznej "Borek" czy również gatunki fauny takie jak uszatka, derkacz, dzierlatka, puszczyk lub płomykówka.
